IPA funds to provide €12,3 million for cross-border projects

 Deputy Director of the EU Integration Office Ognjen Miric stated yesterday that if Serbia is granted the candidate status for the EU membership in December, we will have new opportunities to use other EU funds, apart from IPA funds.

In Subotica, where agreement for the projects approved from the IPA programme for financing trans-border cooperation between Hungary and Serbia was signed, Miric explained that this refers to the funds for the regional development programmes, development of human resources and rural development.

Today 53 out of 69 agreements for the approved projects to be realized in Serbia and Hungary were signed, he said.

Head of the Information centre for the IPA programme for trans-border cooperation Hungary-Serbia Relja Burzan said that the measures and priorities underlined in this open competition envelop many different areas and the number of applicants was four times bigger than the means available.

Burzan stated that this time Subotica received the biggest part of the funds and explained that all projects had to fulfill the condition of having trans-border partners and a non-profit character.

Head of the Directorate of the Hungarian National Agency for Development Balas Simo pointed out that the programme will be realized in Hungarian counties of Csongrad and Bacs-Kiskun, and Banat and Backa in Vojvodina.

Main goal of the programme is to establish cross-border cooperation and to link institutions in the region.
