This year, Slovenian industrial group Iskra has announced plans to build a new production facility in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a modern logistics center near Belgrade, Serbia, according to a post shared on the company’s LinkedIn page. While the financial value of these projects remains undisclosed, Iskra has expressed ambitious growth goals for the year.

The new plant, set to be constructed in Nova Topola, Republika Srpska, will span 12,000 square meters. This expansion aims to boost production capacity and generate new employment opportunities.

In addition to its operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iskra is also enhancing its presence in Serbia, where the new logistics center will be developed to further streamline operations.

Last year, Iskra completed the construction of a factory in Laktaši, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company also announced plans to equip the new facility in Bosnia with advanced robotic lines to enhance production efficiency.

The company has continued to grow through acquisitions in the region. In May 2021, Iskra acquired the Croatian electric cable manufacturer Elka, and they plan to set up a new laboratory with state-of-the-art testing equipment at Elka’s facilities.

In addition, Iskra acquired the shipyard in Šibenik in May 2019, which now operates under the name Iskra Brodogradilište, and in early 2024, the company secured a majority stake in Croatian electrotechnical company ELMAP, specializing in automation for wastewater and drinking water treatment systems, as well as energy and infrastructure systems.

Iskra’s strategy includes bolstering its operations in the field of electrical device wiring, focusing on sustainable solutions for intelligent automation in public infrastructure, and enhancing energy efficiency. Furthermore, in May 2023, Elka purchased a 50% stake in the Croatian producer of wires for transformers and electric motors, Elkakon.
