Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi said in talks with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić in Belgrade that Italy was interested in energy investments in Serbia and that bilateral relations should be promoted further. He emphasized Italy supported Serbia on its EU course and was ready to extend assistance in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. Nikolic thanked Terzi for Italy’s strategic partnership and said that prospects for further development of cooperation were enormous.
Speaking of Kosmet, Nikolic said that Serbia would insist that peace and safety be provided for all the citizens there and would never agree to independence of Kosovo, which is part of Serbia’s territory. A unified strategy for Kosmet will be drawn up and all the relevant subjects in Serbia will be consulted on that matter, he said. Nikolic and Terzi agreed that it would be a very bad thing if the EU were to present any subsequent conditions for admission of Serbia. Nikolic said that, however, Serbia was ready to accept EU suggestions and remedy any omissions in EU integrations.
