As daily paper Blic learns, Jat Airways should soon rent two airplanes, most probably Airbus A319s, which are up to five years old. The company’s Managing Board will make the decision at the next meeting in early November on the procurement of airplanes by the beginning of the next season at the latest.

With that decision, the Managing Board will authorize the management to organize the procurement of two aforementioned airplanes before the beginning of the next season. For that purpose, Jat will take out a loan from banks, for which the Government has recently given guarantees, but it still needs to be approved by the Parliament.

People at the company say that they expect to get that loan very soon.

– The loan has not been granted yet. It is now only a bill that the Government adopted at the meeting on September 24. Laws are finally adopted by the National Parliament of Serbia so that this is just another phase, but not the last one, in the process of approval of the necessary and announced loans for Jat Airways – people at the national airline stated.

Jat Airways will borrow 51.5 million euros for the renovation of the company, the repair of engines and the rental of two airplanes. If approved by the Serbian Parliament, the loan will be taken out from Societe Generale Bank and UniCredit Bank.
