The Spatial Planning and Urbanism Agency of the Republic of Serbia, together with the cities of Kraljevo and Novi Pazar, and the municipalities of Ivanjica, Sjenica, and Raška, signed an agreement to jointly finance the preparation of planning documentation for the “Golija” Nature Park area.

This agreement marks an important step toward the systematic development of Golija, one of Serbia’s most valuable natural areas with untapped tourism, ecological, and economic potential. The goal is to enable strategic planning through a Spatial Plan for Special Purpose Area and an Infrastructure Development Study, ensuring sustainable development while preserving natural and cultural values.

The planning documents will set priorities for public infrastructure development, including roads, utilities, tourism, and protective facilities, all in compliance with environmental standards and legal regulations. The Agency for Spatial Planning and Urbanism will oversee the process and coordinate activities according to public procurement laws.

Local governments involved will provide financial support and appoint representatives for operational cooperation.

Golija Nature Park is significant for biodiversity conservation, cultural heritage, and water resource management, as it is the source of important rivers like Moravica and Studenica, which play a key role in water supply and flood protection.

The agreement signatories agree that this joint investment will establish a strong foundation for the long-term, coordinated, and sustainable development of the region, demonstrating commitment to balanced and strategic development across the country.
