The city of Kragujevac in central Serbia achieved a foreign trade surplus of about €517 million in 2025, highlighted by a sharp rise in export volume and an improving local economic environment, municipal officials and business representatives reported at a recent press briefing. Export activity from Kragujevac expanded markedly during the year, with total shipped goods reaching over €1.81 billion, representing an increase of approximately 126 percent compared with 2024 and effectively more than doubling the city’s international trade turnover.
More than 80 percent of these exports comprised finished products, underscoring a shift toward value-added exports, while around 90 percent of exported goods were destined for markets within the European Union. The strong performance in merchandise exports was influenced significantly by the automotive and transport equipment sector, including cars, automotive parts, tram vehicles and rail vehicle components, which together accounted for well over two-thirds of the city’s export portfolio.
These results, presented by Mayor Nikola Dašić and officials from the Regional Chamber of Commerce, also reflect broader improvements in Kragujevac’s business climate, with local firms and entrepreneurs contributing to export-led growth and employment gains across the region. The export expansion and resulting trade surplus demonstrate a strong trade performance for one of Serbia’s key industrial centres.
