The supervisory board of Kraljevo’s heating company has requested local government approval to raise heating prices for households and businesses by 10.76–11 percent. The increase comes amid rising costs, particularly due to last year’s up to 25% rise in natural gas prices from Srbijagas.
Citizens have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the proposed hike, noting the financial strain it would place on pensioners and other residents. For example, a 60-square-meter apartment could see the heating bill rise by around 700 dinars.
According to company officials, if the City Assembly approves a smaller increase—or rejects it entirely—the municipality is required by law to compensate the company for losses, meaning the cost could ultimately be covered by all citizens through the city budget.
If approved, the new prices would take effect with November billing.
