The Niš committee of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) announced that workers at the “Leoni” factory in Niš and Malošište have informed them about the planned closure of the factory’s facilities, which will result in over 1,000 job losses. According to the employees, job systematization has already been completed across all four plants, and the factory has been split into branches in the Agency for Economic Registers. This division is reportedly aimed at facilitating technological redundancies and eventually shutting down the plants, especially the one in Malošište.

The workers also stated that around 500 employees working on the “Jaguar” project in Malošište will be relocated to the Niš facility on June 16 and will have work until the end of next year. However, layoffs are expected to begin in August.
