After Jura and Aptiv in Leskovac, and Johnson Electric in Niš, began laying off a significant number of workers, employees at Leoni, a company in the automotive industry also affected by the global crisis, are concerned about facing a similar scenario.
Leoni representatives state that, for now, there are no plans to systematically reduce the workforce at the Niš plant, but they continue to monitor market changes.
The company reports that there have been no major changes in the number of employees, with some leaving while others are hired. “Employee turnover at the Leoni plant in Niš remains at a usual level – on a daily basis, some people leave the factory, while new contracts are also signed daily,” the company states.
They emphasize that the entire automotive industry in Europe is facing a crisis, and Leoni Group, including Leoni Serbia, is also encountering challenges. However, they are closely monitoring business trends to ensure long-term sustainability.
Leoni manufactures wiring systems for automobiles and employs over 10,000 people in Serbia.
