Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said that by completing the interconnection with Bulgaria in September next year, Serbia will get the opportunity to diversify its natural gas suppliers and increase its energy independence.
“Serbia is still dependent on one supplier. We have two directions of gas supply, but we are dependent on Russia. “Our connection with Bulgaria, which will be ready next year, gives us the opportunity to negotiate and get LPG from Greece from September next year, to connect with gas from Azerbaijan, which reduces our dependence,” said Mihajlovic, visiting Euronews Serbia.
Asked to comment on the possibility of selling the Russian share owned by NIS, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the state would do everything necessary to ensure energy security and enable an uninterrupted supply of oil.
She stated that the state will do everything to have enough energy and energy sources, and that Serbia will welcome next winter with sufficient quantities of oil, oil derivatives, as well as gas, electricity and heat.
“We cannot know for sure what the price of gas will be, because these are tectonic disturbances in the markets and the question is what price we will be able to get in the negotiations with Gazprom, it is certain that it will not be like before.” There are things that do not depend on Serbia, but we have done everything to be energy safe in these conditions and to provide sufficient supplies of gas, fuel oil, diesel, kerosene, gas, “said Mihajlovic, as reported by the ministry’s press service, Danas reports.
