The Ministry of Economy has signed an agreement granting a subsidy of 3.6 million euros for the renovation of Hotel Slavija in Belgrade, which is owned by the “Matijević” company. The contract was finalized at the end of December 2024 by the Minister of Economy, Adrijana Mesarović, and representatives from “Slavija Hoteli” doo, a subsidiary of Industrija mesa “Matijević”.

As per the agreement, the owner of Hotel Slavija has committed to investing 18.3 million euros into the hotel’s reconstruction, adaptation, and furnishing. The hotel owner will receive a subsidy amounting to 20% of the total investment, or 3.6 million euros. The subsidy will be paid in two installments: 2.17 million euros in 2025 and 1.49 million euros in 2026.

The project is expected to be completed within two years from the submission of the application for the subsidy, which was submitted by the hotel owner on December 4 of last year. This means the hotel renovation is set to be completed by 2027, coinciding with the EXPO international exhibition. “Matijević” acquired Hotel Slavija in early 2024, and Zoran Matijević, the son of the company’s owner, confirmed that the reconstruction is planned to begin in March 2025.
