The latest data from the National Bank of Serbia, based on bank reports from the end of June, approved more than 50,000 requests for clients for the third moratorium, with a total value of 941.5 million euros.
As they explain in the National Bank, the measures from December last year are support to citizens and the economy who, due to the corona virus pandemic, cannot settle their obligations to the bank, or have difficulties in settling those obligations.
– Most of the approved requests of debtors come from the household sector – 87 percent of the total number of approved requests, while, observed by types of loans, the largest number of approved requests refers to cash loans – they say in the NBS. – Since the specific measure is intended primarily for debtors affected by the economic consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of debtors to whom this measure was approved at their request is more than 83 percent.
The National Bank believes that this measure has successfully preserved the high quality of banks’ loan portfolios, as evidenced by the fact that the share of non-performing loans in total loans was further reduced compared to the pre-crisis level – to 3.6 percent at the end of June 2021, Kamatica reports.
