NBS reports significant growth in instant payments in Q3 2024

In the third quarter of 2024, the National Bank of Serbia’s (NBS) instant payment system processed 21.7 million transactions, marking a 29.5% increase compared to the same period last year, according to NBS data. The total value of payments during this period amounted to 270.9 billion dinars, a 46.4% increase from Q3 2023.

Compared to the second quarter of 2024, both the number of transactions (up by 2.9%) and the value of payments (up by 9.1%) saw an increase, continuing the trend of quarter-on-quarter growth, the NBS noted.

During Q3 2024, the average transaction value was approximately 12,492 dinars, with the average daily number of transactions reaching 235,732—over 53,000 more than in the same period in 2023.

Additionally, two more payment service providers introduced the “Transfer” service during Q3 2024, bringing the total number of providers offering this service to 13.
