Negotiations with the EU and easing inflation are priorities for foreign investors

The main recommendations of the Council of Foreign Investors (FIC) for improving business conditions concern the EU integration process of Serbia, the return of inflation to the target limits, the restructuring of infrastructure companies (especially in the field of energy), for the sake of sustainability of the fiscal deficit and public debt.

The recommendations were published in the White Book 2023, it was announced after the annual session of the FIC Assembly, at which the annual and financial report for 2023 was adopted, according to the announcement.

In this sense, the intensification of negotiations with the EU on Serbia’s membership status remains a key priority, in order to harmonize domestic regulations with European standards and reduce geopolitical risk for investments and foreign trade, according to the FIC announcement.

“The Council launched regulatory initiatives in important areas such as housing and building maintenance, e-invoicing, consumer protection, tourism development strategy, private security,” the announcement states.

Also, the announcement states that several professional conferences and educations have been organized, including the first FIC conference on financial services: Development of financial services: challenges and opportunities and the first conference on regenerative agriculture: Accelerate your path to regenerative agriculture, Changes in interest rates ( IRS) and legal aspects of protection (Hedging), “Unlocking” ESG, Safety and health at work.
