The newly completed 19.56-kilometer section of the E-763 “Miloš Veliki” highway from Pakovraće to Požega was officially opened, marking the final segment of the highway to Požega. This stretch features Serbia’s two longest road tunnels, Laz and Munjino Brdo, and nearly one-third of the route consists of bridges and tunnels due to challenging terrain.

President Aleksandar Vučić hailed the project as a sign of Serbia’s strength and modern infrastructure, emphasizing the transformation from poor roads to the safest and most modern highways in the country.

The entire Preljina-Požega section is 30.96 kilometers long, with the Pakovraće-Požega segment now completed. The project includes 35 bridges totaling over 5 kilometers and multiple overpasses to improve traffic flow, including three new traffic interchanges easing congestion around Čačak.

Constructed by China Communications Construction Company (CRBC), the project is valued at $523.5 million (€450 million) and financed by the Serbian government.

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević confirmed the safety of the new section, addressing recent public concerns by stressing that comprehensive technical inspections confirm the highway and tunnels meet all safety standards. She warned that spreading panic about the road’s safety could have criminal consequences.

The E-763 highway serves as a vital connection between Serbia and Montenegro, enhancing regional connectivity with Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, and Italy.
