A new 18-kilometer city railway line is under construction in Belgrade and is expected to be completed by 2026. The route will connect the main Belgrade–Novi Sad railway line with Nikola Tesla Airport, the future National Stadium and the EXPO complex.

Construction began in the Zemun Polje area during the summer of 2024. The railway is designed for passenger transport and train speeds of up to 120 km/h. According to President Aleksandar Vučić, travel from the airport to central Belgrade will take 15 to 25 minutes, while the route from Prokop to the National Stadium will take about 30 minutes.

The line will include four new stops: Singidunum, Airport, Surčin, and National Stadium. Each stop is designed with platforms for both directions. At Surčin, a public parking area with 95 spaces and a taxi stand will be available, functioning under the “Park and Ride” concept.

The first approved structure is a viaduct in Zemun Polje, which will link to the existing Zemun Polje station with separate tracks for each direction. The railway will pass over major highways via bridges and continue through the airport zone for 3.75 kilometers.

The final station, National Stadium, will feature two platforms, canopies, and an underpass with access via stairs and elevators. Landscaping, bike paths, and sidewalks are also planned along the route to improve local infrastructure.

Budget plans allocate 4.3 billion dinars for 2024, 18 billion for 2025, and 15.5 billion for 2026. Future extensions may connect the line to Obrenovac, pending further planning documentation.
