In August, JP Putevi Srbije signed a contract for the construction of the Vranjska Banja interchange on the A1 highway, which will connect the section from Vladiničin Han to Donji Neredovac. The project was awarded to a consortium of companies—Goša Komerc from Vranje, Model 5 from Belgrade, Beoexpert Design from Belgrade and Novi Pazar Put from Novi Pazar—after a tender announced in December. The contract value is 1.4 billion dinars (approximately 12 million euros), excluding VAT.
Alongside the construction works, JP Putevi Srbije has announced a tender for the supervision and technical control of the project, worth around 400,000 euros (476 million dinars). The construction, which includes three bridges, is expected to be completed by February 27, 2026, with expert supervision extending until April 27, 2026. The initial deadline for full completion, according to the December construction tender, was set for July 31, 2025.
The Vranjska Banja interchange will play a crucial role in connecting the town of Vranjska Banja—an area of national and potential international tourist importance—with the newly constructed section of the A1 highway. It will also link the state road IIB no. 442 and the Kriva Feja area with the highway, while providing indirect access to the Prvonek water reservoir and the Besna Kobila ski resort.
The interchange will have a “trumpet” design and aims to replace the current connection, which relies on an old steel bridge over the South Morava River, with a more efficient and modern infrastructure. The project will also involve the construction of new bridges over the Niš-Preševo railway line, the South Morava River and the state road Ia, all integral to the new Vranjska Banja interchange loop.
The conceptual design for the interchange was developed by the Road Institute AD Belgrade as part of the A1 highway Belgrade-Niš-border with North Macedonia section: Vladičin Han – Donji Neradovac.
