Ominimo Insurance, a Serbian startup, reached a significant milestone by achieving a valuation of 200 million euros within just one year of its existence. The company recently signed a strategic partnership with Zurich Insurance Group, one of Europe’s largest insurance companies, marking a major step in its international growth. This partnership also includes Zurich becoming a minority shareholder, boosting Ominimo’s global presence and credibility.
DuÅ¡an Komar, founder and executive director of Ominimo, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating that Zurich’s investment and support will provide the startup with stability, access to global markets, and valuable industry expertise. He emphasized that Ominimo’s innovative use of data science and artificial intelligence allows it to assess risks with much greater accuracy than traditional insurers, enabling lower policy prices and more efficient operations.
The company’s success in Hungary, where it sold over 300,000 policies and captured 7% of the market in just 12 months, demonstrates the potential of its model. Ominimo plans to expand into Poland, Sweden, and the Netherlands this year, with further European expansion planned for the next two to three years.
Ominimo’s team, which includes over 60 people from 10 countries, has a strong base in Serbia, where the company is providing top regional talent with opportunities to work on global challenges in the insurance industry. With experts in software engineering, data science, and business analysis, Ominimo is set to continue transforming the car insurance market through innovation and data-driven solutions.
