The Niš Constantine the Great Airport recorded a notable increase in passenger numbers in February 2026, signaling strengthening travel demand ahead of the peak season. According to official figures, the airport handled 30 458 passengers in February, a 65 % increase compared with the same month last year. This uplift follows a period of lower traffic in 2025 and reflects renewed momentum in both leisure and business travel.

Although February’s traffic was about 8 % lower than in January this year, the year-on-year growth underscores a positive trend for the airport as it approaches the upcoming summer schedule, which begins on 29 March. During the summer, the airport will offer flights to around 17 destinations, including cities such as Vienna, Basel, Dortmund, Memmingen, Ljubljana, Cologne, Frankfurt-Hahn, Malta, Istanbul, Stockholm, Athens, Corfu, Tivat and Zurich. Charter services to popular tourist destinations in Tunisia and Turkey are also planned.

Cargo transport also remained robust, with total freight handled at the airport reaching 321 203 kg in February, contributing to diversified activity beyond passenger traffic. Airlines operating through Niš include Air Serbia, Ryanair, Wizz Air and SWISS, all of which help sustain varied route connectivity ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer season.

The increase in February passenger numbers at Niš reflects broader patterns in regional travel demand, as carriers expand schedules and travellers resume more frequent air journeys following pandemic-era disruptions.
