Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that within seven to ten days he will present economic measures aimed at reducing what he described as “hyperinflationary pressure”.

In a video message on Instagram, Vučić stated that, despite previous government efforts, those earning large profits always found ways to exploit both citizens and the state.

“This time, they will not be able to, because we have devised deep, substantive, long-term, and short-term measures to ensure a better standard of living for Serbian citizens, improved conditions for our producers, those supplying major retail chains, and to reduce hyperinflationary pressure that affects each of us and every family,” Vučić said.

He gave examples of essential products, noting that a bottle of oil currently costs around 200 dinars, but with the planned measures, the price could drop to 160–170 dinars. He mentioned similar expectations for milk, sugar, kulen sausage, coffee, and potatoes.

Regarding potatoes, he specifically cited the famous Ivanjica variety, currently priced at 100 dinars, saying, “I am confident that traders can still make a profit even if it is 80–85 dinars, so that every family in Serbia can afford good, high-quality European potatoes.”
