Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić denied any obstacles to Jared Kushner’s company plans to build a luxury hotel and residences on the site of the General Staff in Belgrade. Speaking at the European Political Union summit in Tirana, Vučić dismissed accusations of forgery related to the project, comparing them to past allegations about the “Belgrade Waterfront” development, which he said is now widely accepted.

Recently, Goran Vasić, acting director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, was detained on suspicion of falsifying documents related to ending the cultural property status of the General Staff buildings. Vasić admitted guilt, and the court imposed restrictions on his communication with witnesses.
