Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has proposed to a Russian delegation that Serbia temporarily buy a portion of Russia’s stake in the Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), with the plan to return it once the international situation stabilizes, according to Večernje novosti.

However, Moscow appears reluctant to accept this solution. The report notes that Russia might prefer to sell its stake to a third party, potentially including American investors.

Vučić reportedly made the proposal during a recent meeting with Gazpromneft Chairman Aleksandr Dyukov and Russian Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin.
