Prime Minister Miloš Vučević recently visited the Toyo Tires factory in Inđija. His visit comes after a meeting with the company’s representatives in late November last year, during which he noted that Serbia is becoming the European business hub for the Japanese tire manufacturer, Toyo Tires. Vučević emphasized that their goal is to bring key production processes to Inđija to supply Europe, which he described as excellent news for the country.
“This is great news for Serbia’s economy. We will fully support their plans. They have focused on capital investments, and production is highly automated,” said Vučević. “They are bringing expensive, modern technology. This is a 21st-century factory that we don’t need to imagine from a catalog – we already have it here in Inđija and Serbia.”
Support for young people and housing initiatives
During his visit, Vučević also addressed an important new bill aimed at solving one of the biggest challenges for young people in Serbia: affordable housing. “Today’s bill represents a revolution for our country, as for the first time, we will systematically address one of the biggest issues facing young people. This is a serious package for the country, but it is also crucial for the youth,” said the Prime Minister. He added that the bill offers a pathway for young people to return to Serbia.
He further explained that the housing solutions would be tailored to average incomes and the local real estate market. “We aim to adapt the program to average incomes and real estate prices in each municipality. We will also ensure that obligations like guarantees and mortgages are minimized, so young people aren’t burdened,” he explained.
Toyo Tires Serbia’s growth
Toyo Tires began operations in Serbia in 2022, and according to the company, it now employs 630 qualified professionals and produces around five million tires annually. Starting in January 2025, the company will also establish a new European sales and marketing center, “Toyo Tire Sales and Marketing Europe doo Inđija,” which will take over the management functions from the current European headquarters in Germany by the end of 2025.
This reorganization is part of Toyo Tires’ global growth strategy. The company also plans to set up a new research and development center in Serbia, which will help strengthen production, sales, and technological advancements across Europe.
