Profitability of the economy in Serbia achieved from business activities

The Business Registers Agency announced that at the end of 2020, a total of 130,582 registered companies performed economic activity. Data for statistical and other needs were submitted by 108,625 companies, while data were processed for 106,111 companies.
Under the influence of the health crisis caused by the corona virus pandemic, economic activity in 2020 was significantly slowed down on both the global and domestic markets. As a result, the gross domestic product in Serbia decreased by 1%, with slightly increased industrial production by only 0.4% compared to the previous year, and foreign trade decreased. Inflation remained at a low of 1.3% and the exchange rate was stable.
A total of 62,230 companies operated positively, 29,117 recorded a loss, and 14,764 companies did not show a net business result.
Thanks to the economic measures that have been implemented to help the economy, the number of employees has increased by 43,592 workers, and in 2020 the total number of employees is 1,217,954 workers.
At the overall level, companies achieved a positive net result of 3.6 million euros, which is 20.7% higher than in 2019. Profitability was achieved from business activities and a positive result in the amount of 5.4 million euros was realized, which is 10.5% higher compared to the previous year, eKapija reports.
