The Mihajlo Pupin Industrial Park in Borča was recently discussed again during a meeting between Serbia’s Minister of Economy, Adriana Mesarović, and a delegation from the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), led by director Wang Lijun, according to the Ministry of Economy.

Minister Mesarović highlighted that the project is one of Serbia’s strategic initiatives for economic development. She emphasized that several Chinese companies have shown interest in establishing production facilities within the park, which will boost employment, facilitate technology transfer, and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Serbia and China.

Earlier, in April, Mesarović met with CRBC representatives to hold more detailed investment discussions regarding the industrial park. The Serbian government has allocated 60 million dinars from the 2025 budget reserve to support the project.

The construction of the Mihajlo Pupin Industrial Park is a joint venture between the Serbian government and the Chinese state-owned CRBC company, and has been in planning for several years. In 2018, the Serbian Ministry of Finance signed an agreement with CRBC in Beijing to develop the park. By November 2019, authorities announced that construction was expected to begin by March 2020, with financing support confirmed by the Bank of China to back all Chinese companies planning to invest in the park. However, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed progress.

Situated on the left bank of the Danube near Pupin’s Bridge, the industrial park will span 320 hectares, with an additional 180 hectares allocated for supporting infrastructure, totaling over 500 hectares. The project will be implemented in three phases as part of the ongoing cooperation between Serbia and CRBC.
