The Spatial Planning and Urbanism Agency of Serbia has announced the public presentation of the urban project for the construction of the National Stadium railway station. This project marks the first phase of the complex’s development, with the Urban Institute of Belgrade acting as the developer, according to Ekapija.

The total area designated for the National Stadium railway station construction is approximately 12.81 hectares, with the first phase focusing on an area of 4.67 hectares. This phase includes the development of essential public railway infrastructure and support facilities within the National Stadium railway station complex.

Key components of the first phase include the construction of a two-track railway line designated for passenger traffic, along with an underpass featuring stairs and elevators to provide easy access to the station square, the second phase of the project, and the National Stadium.

Additionally, the phase will involve the creation of a station building, signal systems and telecommunications facilities, a GSM-R system pillar for railway mobile communications, and an access road with a parking lot for official vehicles. The design also includes a station square and public green spaces spread across three levels.

Initially, the National Stadium station will serve as the terminus station for this phase. However, future phases will expand the station’s role as a transit point on the Zemunsko Polje – National Stadium – Obrenovac railway line. In the first phase, the station will facilitate passenger reception and departure for internal traffic.

The conceptual design includes two platforms with canopies and an underpass that will connect them to the station building. Access to the underpass will be provided via stairs and elevators.

The station building itself is divided into four functional areas: a staff section, a public area for passengers, an entrance to the tunnel with a staircase, elevator, and skylight, and the covered station square that links the public space with the tunnel entrance. The building is designed to be a ground-level structure, with a flat green roof and two lanterns placed above the underpass and square.

The total gross area of the building is 713.57 m². Following the completion of the first phase, further expansion is planned to include additional infrastructure and commercial spaces. The second phase of the project will focus on extending the two-track railway from the National Stadium to Obrenovac, as well as developing exit points from the underpass and constructing additional facilities at the railway station, in line with the overall construction plan.

Future developments within the complex will include educational, cultural, health, and sports facilities, alongside commercial spaces like restaurants, shopping areas, business and tourism facilities, and multifunctional zones. Additionally, service, logistics, technical facilities, parking lots, garages, and infrastructure areas will be developed, enhancing the urban environment of the complex.

The conceptual design of the station building was created by VS INFRA DESIGN DOO, with the architectural concept developed by Fenwick Iribarren Architects.

The public presentation of this urban project is open until March 10.
