The upcoming electricity price increase in Serbia, combined with rising living costs, is prompting households to adopt more efficient electricity use. Experts recommend shifting consumption to the cheaper night tariff, when electricity can cost up to four times less than during the day.
Estimates suggest that smaller households consuming around 400 kWh per month could save 1,000–1,500 dinars by moving a third to half of their usage to night hours. Average households using 800 kWh could save 2,000–3,000 dinars, while larger households or those heating with electricity, consuming about 1,200 kWh, could save up to 4,500 dinars per month.
Boilers offer the highest potential savings, with night-only operation reducing bills by up to 1,000 dinars. Washing machines, dishwashers, and other appliances can be programmed for night-time use, while heating devices are recommended to operate mainly at night to avoid peak-hour rates. Charging electronic devices such as phones, laptops, and electric scooters at night also contributes to additional monthly savings.
