Due to the great demand for construction materials due to the mass construction of apartments and roads, its prices also jumped, says Goran Rodic from the Construction Chamber of Serbia, and adds that the price of materials was greatly influenced by the sudden jump in the price of oil.
– The demand for apartments has increased, construction is more massive, and thus the prices of apartments are higher, while the labor force is in deficit – Rodic told Tanjug.
After the sudden jump in the price of oil, construction chemicals and oil products, such as plastic profiles, also became more expensive, stated Rodic.
He adds that the price of concrete iron also jumped.
As he says, the price of iron increased by 40 percent, and some thermal insulation materials by up to 70 percent.
Due to the high price of cement in Serbia, according to the interlocutors, it is more profitable to import from the countries of the region, and even cheaper from Russia, by 30 percent.
He expects that glass and profiles for carpentry will become more expensive in the next period, while the price of blocks and tiles will depend on the price of gas.
– If the gas jumps, the blocks and tiles will become more expensive. It is a commodity that is exported a lot to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia – he says.
He adds that the construction of apartments will become more expensive and that investors will then decide whether to adjust the price of the apartment, which will depend on supply and demand, Vesti Online reports.
