SANU academics sent a letter to the Ministry of Mining and Energy and members of the MRE working group for drafting the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan of the Republic of Serbia, warning them that continuing to work without representatives of EPS, EMS and AERS is not in the interest of Serbian energy. They also point out that they noticed shortcomings in the documents submitted to them by the MRE, which should be eliminated and offer assistance. By the way, the members of SANU are not part of the MRE working groups.

Despite the fact that the representatives of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Elektromreža Srbije and the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia (AERS) withdrew from the early groups of the Ministry of Mining and Energy (MRE) to develop a new energy development strategy and national energy and climate plan. February 4 this year scheduled a meeting of the Working Group for the development of the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan of the Republic of Serbia for the period from 2021 to 2030 with a vision for 2050.

The Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) reacted to that.

Representatives of SANU, Slobodan N. Vukosavić, Bogdan Å olaja and Velimir Radmilović sent a letter to all members of the Working Group in which they say: “Please inform us about the above circumstances first hand. I hope you will not mind if we state that the continuation of work without representatives of EPS, EMS and the Energy Agency does not provide an opportunity for the outcomes to be in the interest of Serbian energy and Serbian society. ”

SANU warns MRE

Thanks to the representatives of MRE for the notices and documents submitted to them by the academics, they point out “although the members of SANU are not part of the working groups of MRE (don’t mind that I remind you of that)”.

– In the documents you submitted to us, we see shortcomings that should be eliminated, as well as the need to radically change the approach to solving many problems. Until this is done, we do not recommend taking further steps, and especially not to do conclusive actions. Our previous findings, recommendations, remarks, suggestions, as well as the analysis of a number of possible scenarios with a number of different criteria can be found in the updated version of the file – they say to the Ministry of Mining and Energy from SANU.
