SCAT Airlines in talks to launch Belgrade–Morocco flights as part of North Africa expansion

Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines is in talks with Serbia’s Civil Aviation Directorate to secure traffic rights for flights between Belgrade and Morocco, the company’s president Vladimir Denisov told EX-YU Aviation News.

The carrier aims to use the “fifth freedom” of the air, which allows airlines to carry passengers between two foreign countries, as part of its expansion plans into North Africa. The route would build on SCAT’s recently launched Astana–Belgrade service, with Belgrade serving as a logical stopover point due to Morocco’s distance from Kazakhstan.

Serbian and Kazakh aviation authorities held initial discussions on the matter on Monday, with another meeting planned later this year that could finalize the agreement. If successful, SCAT could launch Belgrade–Morocco flights in 2026.

Belgrade Airport has long sought to establish air connectivity with Morocco. Meanwhile, Morocco’s National Tourist Office is working with Serbian tour operators to develop travel packages promoting Moroccan destinations, with plans to improve air links through direct and charter flights.
