Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, stated that the reversible hydropower plant (RHPP) Bistrica is the most important energy project currently under development in Serbia.
Speaking at a government Working Group session dedicated to the construction of RHPP Bistrica, she emphasized the need for strong coordination and acceleration among all relevant national and local institutions involved in project preparation, aiming to begin work early next year.
The issuance of location permits for the main hydroelectric facility is currently underway. The minister expects that by the end of the year, technical and tender documentation will be ready to start parts of the supporting infrastructure.
She also noted ongoing efforts to finalize project financing with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and to meet their technical and other requirements.
