Orion Telekom has officially launched a sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) factory in its Belgrade data centre campus, establishing what company officials and industry observers describe as the most advanced private AI infrastructure in Central and Southeast Europe. Equipped with high-performance computing systems based on NVIDIA Blackwell (DGX B200) architecture, the facility is designed to support the complete lifecycle of AI development — from model creation and training to inference and production deployment — providing enterprises and institutions with local access to top-tier AI capabilities without reliance on foreign cloud providers.
The project represents a significant strategic investment as part of Orion’s wider Technology and Digital Infrastructure Strategy, which encompasses planned capital deployment exceeding €200 million over the coming years to build sovereign AI and digital computing capacities in Serbia and the wider region. By combining leading-edge hardware with enterprise-grade software and data management tools, Orion’s AI factory aims to enable advanced analytics, predictive modelling and AI-driven business process optimisation for sectors such as finance, manufacturing, logistics and public services, while ensuring that data remains under domestic control and compliant with European data protection and AI regulations.
Officials from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce have highlighted the launch as a strategic milestone for the country’s technological ecosystem and international competitiveness, noting that access to potent, locally hosted AI infrastructure can catalyse innovation and boost productivity across the economy, giving Serbian companies and institutions a competitive edge in adopting AI-enabled solutions.
This development places Serbia among a small but growing group of countries in the region hosting comprehensive commercial AI platforms, marking a shift from talk about digital transformation to the deployment of operational infrastructure that supports real-world AI adoption and economic digitalisation.
