The Government of Serbia held the fourth session of the Working Group for the construction of the Bistrica reversible hydroelectric power plant (RHPP), focusing on the progress of project-technical documentation and planning the next steps in the project’s implementation.

Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, emphasized that the RHPP Bistrica project is of paramount importance for Serbia’s energy sector. She stated that energy companies and other relevant institutions must enhance coordination to finalize the project-technical documentation, including the updated Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study, in line with the newly adopted Environmental Impact Assessment Law by the end of the year, as per the project’s timeline. Đedović Handanović underlined that the construction of RHPP Bistrica is crucial for improving the stability of the power system and supporting the efficient balancing of renewable energy production.

The meeting also noted that the feasibility study has been completed, and that the process of acquiring location conditions and preparing project documentation for relocating parts of state roads, transmission lines, and water supply infrastructure is nearing completion.
