Serbia and Egypt share a long-standing and sincere friendship, and the recent implementation of the Free Trade Agreement marks a new chapter in their bilateral relations, Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut stated.
Speaking at the Serbia-Egypt Business Forum in Cairo, Macut emphasized that the agreement allows both countries to fully leverage their comparative advantages. This, he said, opens the door for a significant increase in trade, investment, and cooperation across multiple sectors, ultimately boosting competitiveness and prosperity for citizens in both nations.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that his visit, along with the third business forum between Serbia and Egypt, will further enhance collaboration—particularly in agriculture, food processing, construction, textiles, and energy industries.
“In times when global trade faces rising tariffs and barriers, Serbia and Egypt are working together to enable freer movement of goods, services, and capital,” Macut highlighted.
He also noted that trade between the two countries has been growing steadily, though there remains substantial untapped potential to expand it further.
Currently, around 40 businesses in Serbia are majority-owned by Egyptian investors, and plans are underway for Serbian companies to enter the Egyptian market as well.
Matsut expressed particular satisfaction with Egypt’s commitment to participate in the upcoming specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, which is expected to draw numerous Egyptian business representatives and serve as a platform to deepen economic ties and friendship between the two peoples.
The Prime Minister is currently on a three-day official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
