Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, announced that Serbia and Romania are moving forward with plans to enhance regional energy cooperation. She and Romanian Energy Minister Ivan Bogdan have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the Đerdap 3 reversible hydropower plant, currently in the coordination phase.

The project aims to boost the stability of both countries’ energy systems, support the integration of renewables, and provide seasonal electricity storage.

The ministers also reviewed progress on the Serbia–Romania gas interconnection, set to be completed within the next two and a half years. A technical agreement has already been signed between Srbijagas and Romania’s Transgaz, enabling Serbia to connect to the BRUA pipeline and Romanian gas reserves.
