Minister Nenad Popović met with Maksim Oreshkin, the head of the administration of the President of the Russian Federation, to discuss the development and strengthening of economic cooperation between Serbia and Russia. The focus of their meeting was on key sectors such as agriculture, robotics, energy, infrastructure, machinery, information and communication technologies (ICT), digitization, innovation, and the application of new technologies.

Both sides agreed to continue working on expanding cooperation in these areas, which are vital for both countries. Popović, who also co-chairs the Serbian-Russian Intergovernmental Committee for Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, emphasized the diverse nature of trade between Serbia and Russia, covering sectors like energy, chemicals, food, industry, and pharmaceuticals.

A particular point of focus was the strategic partnership in the gas industry, with Popović highlighting the favorable gas supply contract signed three years ago. He noted that this contract provides the lowest gas prices in Europe for Serbian citizens and businesses, contributing to the country’s energy security and supporting industrial and economic growth. Serbia is also working on negotiating a new contract with similarly favorable terms to take effect in May.
