Serbia and Switzerland strengthen innovation cooperation, focus on startups and science parks

Serbia’s Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, Academician Bela Balint, met with Switzerland’s Ambassador to Serbia, Anna Lugon-Moulin, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in innovation, particularly regarding startups and Science and Technology Parks.

Balint expressed satisfaction with the existing collaboration, highlighting the importance of Switzerland’s expertise in further developing Serbia’s innovation ecosystem. Ambassador Lugon-Moulin noted Switzerland’s role as one of the first countries to assist Serbia in enhancing its innovation capacities over the past decade, particularly through partnerships with Science and Technology Parks in Belgrade, Niš, and Čačak.

Both sides discussed the success of the “Raising Stars” program, which has supported over 200 Serbian startups, as well as the continued cooperation between Science and Technology Park Belgrade, the Swiss Institute for Intellectual Property, and the Serbian Institute for Intellectual Property.

They also reviewed the successful Innovation Forum Serbia-Switzerland from last year, which resulted in a cooperation agreement between BIO4 campus and Novartis. Both expressed interest in organizing this year’s Forum with similar success.
