Serbia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are exploring the possibility of launching a joint program in the field of robotics, aiming to leverage Serbia’s strong engineering capabilities. This initiative was discussed during a meeting between Serbian Minister for International Economic Cooperation, Nenad Popović, and Marija Al Meheiri, the UAE Minister of International Affairs.

Popović, who is currently participating in the “Sustainability Week in Abu Dhabi” — the UAE’s second-largest conference focused on sustainable development and innovation — met with Al Meheiri at the UAE Presidential Palace. They explored opportunities for collaboration on innovation within the food industry, artificial intelligence, and potential UAE investments in Serbian companies specializing in clean energy.

During his visit, Popović also toured Masdar City, an innovative and sustainable urban development in Abu Dhabi that operates entirely on renewable energy. Known for its advanced use of solar-powered transportation and housing the Masdar Institute — a leading research center for clean energy and sustainability — the city is also home to the world’s only Artificial Intelligence University. Popović discussed the potential for implementing similar sustainable solutions in Serbia with experts during his tour.

“Serbia is already a leader in the region on several technological and economic fronts. I believe that collaboration with the UAE in these areas will further enhance our capabilities and solidify Serbia’s position on the global stage,” Popović remarked after the visit.
