Serbia approves funding for Northern Industrial Zone in Vršac to attract new investors

The Government of Serbia has made a decision recognizing the construction project of the linear infrastructure for the Northern Industrial Zone in Vršac as a project of special significance for Serbia. This decision paves the way for securing funding to complete the project.

The Northern Industrial Zone is the first investment project in the city of Vršac ever declared a project of special importance for Serbia, as noted on the city’s official website.

The Mayor of Vršac, Dragana Mitrović, signed an agreement with the Minister of Economy, Adriana Mesarović, at the Ministry of Economy to finance the construction of linear infrastructure for the Northern Industrial Zone, with a total value of 61,893,455.64 RSD. The allocated funds will be immediately transferred to the city of Vršac and used for the construction of electrical infrastructure and a traffic connection to the state road 1.B No. 18, which will fully equip the industrial zone and make it ready to welcome its first investors.

The existing Technology Park zone, located in the southwestern part of the city, is nearly filled to capacity. Therefore, the Northern Industrial Zone was strategically planned to attract new investors and expand economic activities in Vršac and surrounding municipalities.

With joint investments from the City of Vršac and the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, the entire first phase of the zone’s infrastructure was completed, amounting to 281,573,177.10 RSD, excluding VAT. The completion of the Northern Industrial Zone project and its full operation is expected to be realized during the current calendar year.
