The first installment of the increased March salary began being paid to employees in preschool institutions, as well as in primary and secondary schools in Serbia. Their salaries will be raised by 5.0 percent, according to Siniša Mali, the Minister of Finance in the technical mandate.
In a post on his Instagram account, Mali explained that this is in line with the Regulation amending the Regulation on coefficients for calculating and paying salaries to public service employees, effective from January 16 this year. This amendment increases the coefficients for calculating salaries of employees in preschool, primary, and secondary education by 5.0 percent starting March 1, with an additional 5.0 percent increase set for October 1. “When combined with the 11.0 percent salary increase for education workers from January 1, 2025, the total salary increase for education employees this year will reach 22.4 percent,” he noted.
As announced, the full salary with the 5.0 percent increase will be given to those who have worked throughout the period. Mali stated that the basic salary of teachers, following the March increase, will exceed 101,000 dinars, while the salary of teachers and class teachers will surpass 108,000 dinars.
With the upcoming October 5.0 percent increase, the basic salary for teachers will rise to over 106,000 dinars, and the salary for teachers and class teachers will exceed 113,000 dinars.
He also mentioned that employees who worked for the full duration will receive the full salary increase, including non-teaching staff and teachers who conducted 45-minute classes. Those who worked less will receive a salary corresponding to their performance.
Additionally, Mali confirmed that the first part of the March salary advance payment for higher education employees has started today, reflecting a 15.97 percent salary increase since March 1. Similar to school staff, non-teaching staff will receive the full advance payment, while teaching staff will be compensated based on their performance.
