Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Adriana Mesarović, announced that current ministry competitions will remain open until the allocated funds are fully utilized. She emphasized that the country is intensifying efforts to combat honey counterfeiting in the domestic market. The Ministry of Agriculture, along with market and veterinary inspections, has been conducting thorough tests to identify counterfeit honey, allowing for appropriate sanctions and removal of these products from the market.

The Ministry of Economy has launched financial support programs for young entrepreneurs, family businesses, and honey producers. Mesarović also revealed plans for two new competitions targeting artisans and women in rural areas. Through the Development Fund, young people aged 20 to 35 can apply for loans up to 5 million dinars with a low interest rate of 1-1.5%, and a repayment period of 78 months with an 18-month grace period.

Additionally, family businesses with at least two family members in the ownership structure can access loans worth up to 5 million dinars at a 2.5% interest rate. The ministry is also supporting beekeepers with grants of up to 3 million dinars, covering 50% of their investments. Serbia is becoming increasingly competitive in the international honey market, particularly with exports to China.
