The abolition of tariffs on specific products starting July 1st, when the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and China comes into effect, opens significant opportunities for Serbian agricultural producers to expand their presence and secure buyers in the vast Chinese market, stated Minister of Trade Tomislav Momirović today in Sremski Karlovci.

Momirović attended the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Association of Producers of Aromatized Wine with Geographical Indication “BERMET” from Sremski Karlovci, the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in the Republic of Serbia, the company “Ningbo Xiangmiao Technology Co. Ltd,” and the enterprise “ARONIJA VITA.”

He emphasized that the cooperation memorandum signed with Chinese partners “marks a new era in the export of Serbian wines to the Chinese market.”

According to him, this already demonstrates the advantages of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and China. “We have identified the potential of the expanding Chinese market and plan to broaden and diversify our agricultural product offerings by delivering high-quality products at competitive prices. By establishing a joint sales center in Sremski Karlovci, digitizing the current offerings, and enhancing the promotion of Sremski Karlovci as a top-tier wine destination, we aim to bring Serbian wines closer to our Chinese friends,” said Momirović. He added that the benefits of the Free Trade Agreement with China are numerous, representing a VIP entry pass for Serbian agricultural producers compared to their European counterparts when accessing the Chinese market.

“By opening the Chinese market and reducing trade barriers, we are creating new opportunities for our entrepreneurs to boost exports and improve their competitiveness in the global market,” Momirović concluded. He expressed confidence that with joint efforts and collaboration between Serbian wine producers and Chinese partners, significant progress will be made in the export of Serbian wines and in strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
