Attracting and retaining talent remains one of the primary challenges for companies across all sizes this year, as revealed by research conducted by Infostud. While this trend persists, particularly in companies with more than 300 employees, the difficulty has slightly eased compared to the previous year’s report.
However, challenges related to employee motivation and organizational issues are on the rise, with smaller companies focusing more on trend monitoring and benefits.
In specific industries, companies in logistics and transportation face the greatest difficulties in retaining employees (71 percent), while those in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and manufacturing struggle the most with attracting candidates (58 percent and 55 percent, respectively).
Regarding the work environment, there’s a noticeable difference in the approach to remote work versus working from the office. Approximately 46 percent of companies mandate in-office work for all employees, with respondents from non-IT industries indicating less prevalence of remote work due to job nature.
Small and medium-sized companies tend to enforce in-office work more strictly, while larger companies exhibit greater flexibility in work arrangements. Industries such as marketing, media, communications, and banking, finance, and auditing demonstrate more flexible work policies compared to logistics, production, and sales sectors.
Regarding applicant feedback, only 51 percent of companies provide feedback to all candidates, with lack of time and inadequate applications cited as common reasons for not doing so.
Infostud’s research also explores the adoption of AI tools in HR activities, revealing that only seven percent of companies utilize such tools, primarily for structuring interviews, creating ads, scheduling interviews, and other related tasks.
The survey conducted in February 2024 by Infostud among the Puls HR community sheds light on the ongoing challenges faced by Serbian companies and their responses. It encompasses various industries and delves into strategies for attracting, retaining, and motivating employees, offering valuable insights into the broader HR landscape beyond the IT sector.
