A contract for the construction of the production hall for the Chinese company Shac was signed in Shanghai, with plans to open the facility in Novi Sad by the end of next year.
During his working visit to China, Novi Sad’s mayor, Milan Đurić, toured the Shac automotive industry in Shanghai, which aims to establish a factory in Novi Sad to produce chassis for the European market. The new facility is expected to create jobs for 150 local workers.
Đurić highlighted the significance of this investment, stating that it will not only provide employment but also contribute to GDP growth and increase local government revenue through property and payroll taxes. He noted that this factory will enhance Novi Sad’s global standing as it will be Shac’s first facility in Europe, with an anticipated opening in late 2025.
Shac, or Shanghai Huizhong Automotive Manufacturing, specializes in manufacturing and marketing heavy trucks, buses, and specialized vans. Founded in 1992, the company has roots in truck production dating back to 1958, when China assembled its first vehicle of this kind.
