Serbia’s inflation in October: Year-on-year rate at 4.5%, monthly rise of 0.6%

Serbia’s year-on-year inflation rate in October 2024 stood at 4.5%, with a monthly inflation increase of 0.6%, according to the Republic Institute of Statistics.

Compared to December 2023, the average prices of personal consumption products and services, which are used to measure inflation, rose by 3.9%.

Price increases were recorded in several key categories in October 2024, with education seeing the highest rise at 3.3%, followed by clothing and footwear at 1.9%. Prices for apartment equipment and ongoing maintenance went up by 1%, while health-related costs increased by 0.8%.

Other sectors also experienced price hikes, including food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, as well as restaurants and hotels, all of which rose by 0.6%. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw a 0.4% increase, transport went up by 0.3%, and recreation and culture rose by 0.2%.

The only decrease in prices was recorded in the communication group, which fell by 0.1%.
