The Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (PKS) is set to become a co-founder of the Alliance of Chambers of Commerce for a new international land-sea trade corridor connecting Western China with Southeast Asia and Europe. This announcement was made today by PKS President Marko Čadež. At the invitation of the President of the National Chamber of Commerce of China, Čadež will attend the founding ceremony for this Alliance, which includes 20 national chambers from countries along the “Belt and Road” route linking China to Europe.

“This initiative is crucial for us, as it opens access to markets that have previously been difficult to reach, including the Philippines, Kazakhstan and Indonesia. It will create new business opportunities for our companies,” Čadež stated in an interview with RTS.

He emphasized that China is one of Serbia’s key foreign trade partners and a significant global trade player. “Thanks to strong political leadership and the policies of President Aleksandar Vučić, Serbia has partners across the globe. It is our responsibility to leverage these relationships effectively for Serbia’s benefit,” Čadež added.

In addition to trade, Čadež highlighted the importance of collaboration with China in high technology sectors, including electric vehicles, batteries, renewable energy, and advanced materials. He reminded that the Free Trade Agreement with China allows Serbia to export over 10,000 products to that market, and joining the Alliance will facilitate easier and more cost-effective access for domestic companies.

Recently, the PKS has ramped up its internationalization efforts for the domestic economy. Regarding cooperation with Japan, whose delegation visited Serbia recently, Čadež noted that major Japanese corporations recognize Serbia as a European hub with innovative companies and quality agricultural products, such as frozen fruit.

He pointed out that Air Serbia’s upcoming direct flight to Tokyo will be vital for the business community, expected to launch within the next six months.

The world exhibition in Osaka will provide Serbia an opportunity to showcase its offerings at a business forum and establish new partnerships globally.

Čadež also highlighted the significance of collaboration with the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce, where a meeting of Serbian and German innovative companies is planned for February. Furthermore, he mentioned the participation of Serbian firms at “Jitex” in Dubai, where over 1,500 meetings were held, resulting in substantial deals. Additionally, an agreement has been reached with the World Trade Center for participation in “Gitex Global” as part of “Expo 2027” in Belgrade.

“We aim to position Belgrade as a meeting point for the elite of the tech world,” said Čadež, announcing that Serbian companies will also participate in the “Web Summit” in Lisbon, where major global technology firms will gather.
