The Port Management Agency has officially signed a contract to develop a study and design plan for floating hotels in preparation for EXPO 2027 in Belgrade. The initiative will be led by the consulting firm Public Transport Consult d.o.o., in collaboration with the Faculty of Transport at the University of Belgrade.

The objective of the study is to design floating structures, specifically hotel ships, to enhance accommodation capacity during the expo, which is projected to attract over three million visitors.

To meet this influx, the project will implement a successful model previously used in similar international events, which includes the deployment of cruise ships and other floating facilities. The study will evaluate three potential sites—two on the Sava River and one on the Danube—with the aim of selecting the most advantageous location.

The selected site will provide five mooring spots, each capable of accommodating up to two ships, with maximum dimensions of 135 meters in length and 12 meters in width.

Under the current plan, these floating hotels are set to operate for one year, commencing December 1, 2026.
