Minister of Finance Siniša Mali and Executive Director of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Abdulrahman Almarshad signed agreements today in Belgrade to finance three projects in Serbia, totaling $205 million. The agreements include funding for the BIO4 Campus Project, allocated $65 million; the Infrastructure Strengthening for Irrigation Program, with $75 million; and the Transmission System Operator EMS Project (Phase 1), receiving $65 million.

Mali stated that these projects will be financed through a 20-year loan with an exceptionally low fixed interest rate of 2.5%, which he highlighted as very favorable financial terms. He emphasized that this interest rate is highly competitive in the international financial market, particularly given the complexity of the infrastructure and energy projects involved.

“It is crucial for this funding to arrive in our country under these conditions,” Mali noted. “This reflects our effective management of public debt. For context, a 20-year U.S. Treasury bond is currently rated around 4.4%, while this loan stands at just 2.5%. This clearly illustrates how favorable these financing sources are,” he concluded.
