In the third quarter of 2024, Serbia reported a total of 2,365,672 employed workers, marking an increase of 4,910 compared to the same period last year, according to the Republic Statistical Office. Among these, 1,896,300 are employed in companies, 420,453 are entrepreneurs, their employees or self-employed individuals and 48,919 are registered individual farmers.
When compared to the previous quarter, the number of registered employees decreased by 1,498. This decline is attributed to a drop of 2,716 employees in companies and a reduction of 984 in individual agricultural holdings, offset by an increase of 2,202 in the entrepreneurial sector.
Year-on-year, the total number of employees saw a modest increase of 0.2 percent, with the number of employees in legal entities rising by 3,959 (also 0.2 percent). The number of entrepreneurs, their employees, and self-employed individuals grew by 5,061, representing a 1.2 percent increase, while the number of registered individual farmers fell by 4,110, or 7.8 percent.
