Serbia has recorded impressive growth in tourism revenue, with a foreign exchange inflow of 2.1 billion euros in the first nine months of 2024, an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Minister of Tourism and Youth, Husein Memić, emphasized that the country continues to break records in both foreign exchange earnings and the number of international visitors.
In 2023, tourism revenue totaled 2.6 billion euros, an 8% increase from 2022. Minister Memić noted that the figures, once unimaginable, are now becoming a reality and he expressed optimism for further growth in Serbia’s tourism sector.
“When comparing these numbers to 2019, it’s likely that the foreign exchange inflow will be doubled. This means that Serbia is setting records, surpassing even the pre-pandemic figures,” Memić said.
In addition to the revenue boost, Serbia has seen a rise in the number of foreign tourist overnight stays, with a total of 4.6 million nights recorded in the first nine months of 2024, reflecting an 8.9% increase from the previous year. The total number of tourist arrivals has risen by 5.7%, while foreign tourist arrivals have surged by 12.6%.
